FULL-DAY SESSION
10-12 hours….definitely the best way to capture the myriad of magical moments that make up a day in your lives.
I have photographed road trips, adventures in the woods as well as afternoons in the park…the possibilities are endless.
Documenting all the small moments that make your big adventures so memorable. With a full day we have the luxury of time so that these can unfold organically with no pressure on time.
HALF DAY SESSION
5 hours….gives me to the time to mingle into your morning or afternoon routine or a mini adventure in the woods, to observe and capture the moments that make your family’s story honest and authentic.
1 HOUR SESSION
1 hour….a quick glimpse into your family life. A documentary approach with no engineered moments. I might not get quite the same opportunities to get to know and capture you as I would with longer sessions, but I can still capture your family’s story in all its uniqueness.

I am a wedding & portrait photographer (you can check out my other work at www.edomahoneyweddings.com if you’re curious) recently relocated to rural Northamptonshire after living in Amsterdam for the past ten years. I live with my amazing partner Nelly and our mad as a hatter cocker spaniel Alfie.
When I was younger, I was a typical extrovert, thriving on nights out with mates and playing any sport that involved a ball (hockey was my favourite). After graduating with a degree that wasn’t particularly useful in a global recession (Real Estate Management), I fell back on hockey to travel around the world.
As time wore on my legs began to slow and those long Friday nights in bleak mid-winter, weathering horizontal rain/sleet began to lose their appeal so I hung up my stick in exchange for art school and a part time job as a copywriter at a guerrilla marketing company which in the end led me to working as a photographer’s assistant and starting a lifelong passion for visual storytelling.
Now I’m older it’s probably fair to say that I am more of an introvert. I love spending time by myself, either working on my grandpa’s farm, reading or just taking the dog for a spin around the woods. These days when I make it to the pub, it’s more likely to be for a Belgian beer (La Chouffe is my kryptonite) and a board game or to watch the rugby rather than a sesh with the lads.
Because of the nature of my work, I’m usually busy at weekends which means that during the week I try to escape on my road bike or to the Peak District to spend some time outdoors, immersed in nature.
My happiest place is in some scandi looking coffee shop with a smooth flat white, a game of Boonanza and my wisecracking partner in crime (if you’re ever in Amsterdam, I highly recommend visiting Scandinavian Embassy, it’s not a real embassy and the cinnamon buns will change the way you view patisserie).

The best place to start is by checking out the work that I have created documenting other families here on this page. Amongst the images you will find out part of the process I use to go about documenting your families story.
If you would like to know more about the process and what a session would look like or just to even get to know me and judge whether I’m the right person to let inside your family life then I would love to have a chat, either in person if convenient or on the phone or zoom if not.

I think that that is generally the same feeling that most people have and if I’m honest it’s not something that would immediately appeal to me either. This is however how I differ from traditional family portraiture.
There won’t be any static poses, forced smiles or manufactured moments that just look awkward and remind you just how uncomfortable the whole experience was when you look back at the photos. Instead, everyone will have the opportunity and time it takes to adjust to having me around, so much so that you’ll forget there’s even a camera around and this is where the magic happens.
-
In the beginning it will undoubtedly feel awkward, there’s someone new in your family space that isn’t there normally. However this feeling will melt away quickly as you begin to get used to having me and my camera around. I’ll be there connecting with you all individually, watching your family’s dynamic and documenting it in a way that does justice to your story. You’ll never be made to feel awkward by someone hiding in a dark corner surreptitiously snapping away, instead you’ll find that you’ve made a new friend by the end of the day.

What you are investing in is a portrait of your family unique to you, your story artistically etched in black and white that you’ll want on the walls and in a book at the same time. With years of experience and an ability to integrate myself into other peoples lives seamlessly, not only do you get images that you will treasure in the years to come but an experience that you will genuinely enjoy.
Yes it’s a lot of money and there are many other photographers that can deliver you family portraits that you’d be happy with, what you get with me is something different though, something that can’t be replicated.
In short, something original.

I’d love to hear from you, why not get in touch and we can have a chat either via email, zoom, over the phone….however you want.
FOR THOSE NOT YET CONVINCED…
Your kids will be running wild, your partner will be protesting and you’ll be anxious that you look how you feel which is that there aren’t enough hours in the day to make sure everyone is fed and watered, the dog has been for his walk and you’ve had a chance to look in the mirror. AND it’s a big investment.
It is so much more than a big investment though. It’s an honest and authentic glimpse into the reality of what a day in the life of your family looks like, a celebration of the thousand chaotic moments that make up each and every day you share as a family. It’s an original reflection of daily life.
A personal documentary of all the things you may never have known that you would miss in the years to come.
Your bespoke photographs will be personal to you, your unique eccentricities, quirks and all. They will rebel against traditional family portraiture, no bland or stiff family snaps staring into the camera in a sterile studio. Your investment is in how you how you want these to be remembered, to document the carefully balanced juggling act you all do in unison each and every day.
Capturing a day of beautifully imperfect moments rather than a manufactured moment of bliss that existed for the briefest of moments. There won’t be any awkward posing or enticed smiles, just the raw truth of your family story.
It’s the art that you want to hang on the wall, that deserves to be bound in a book for future generations. Art that will remind you every day what makes you who you are and the value that can be found in the seemingly insignificant moments that you experience all the time.
THEY WILL NEVER
BE AS YOUNG AS THEY WERE TODAY
Documenting your unique way of life in a way you feel. Capturing the essence of your family through artistic, black and white photographs.
