RULE OF ODDS

a group of subjects in your photo, an odd number, rather than an even number will produce a more interesting, and visually pleasing composition

To position each pie in the center third using the rule of thirds grid, you can align the pies along the vertical line that divides the frame into three equal sections. This will help to create a balanced and engaging composition. Make sure the focal points of the pies intersect with the lines or nodes of the grid to enhance their visual impact.

We have five elements in the composition instead of three, which creates multiple triangular shapes that beautifully frame each piece. However, I limited the main subjects to three whole pies to ensure the photo maintains a clear focal point.

We’re increasing from five to seven items in this photo. I’ve included a tea towel, a rolling pin and two bowls to form a diagonal line within the composition. With this many elements, the line shape also creates numerous triangles, adding depth and interest to the image.
